  • Brett - April 21st, 2009 at 10:26 pm

    Really really bummed out. :(
I am sad….no tour dates in california and this album…the boys are just better than this album. When I listened to Resurrection (which I view as one of the best metal albums in the last decade maybe all time) I could not stop listening it was so brutally good. The second listen through The Infection I found myself fast forwarding though the filler sounds to get to the meat of what is everything I love about Chimaira, a sonic assault that shows no mercy. Sorry boys but Lamb Of God’s Wrath kicked your ass without question this go around.

    Sincerely and respectfully yours,

    Brett

  • Brett Fan - April 21st, 2009 at 10:48 pm

Man I’m really upset. Brett didn’t come over last night to spoon. I really thought he was better than that. The last time he came over he not only spooned with me, he gave me a full body “massage”. Sorry man, but Jonathan totally kicked your ass at being gay with me this time around.

    Love,

    Brett Fan

  • Brett - April 21st, 2009 at 11:02 pm

    lol…**whispers** Call me

  • Joel - April 22nd, 2009 at 4:09 am

I kinda agree with Brett, i also find myself trying to get through the slower stuff so I can get to what I love about Chimaira…. i like the album in that it is very diverse and nobody else seems to want to try and change their sound so i’m atleast glad you guys went for a different approach….. all i ask is bring back the tempo on the next disc….. and Rob….. what’s up with the solo’s????? I not a lot going on on this album in the solo department but the ones that were there were enjoyable….. Sounds good in the car!

  • ThatGuyOverThere - April 22nd, 2009 at 5:44 am

typical people on here get off topic…The Infection is WAY better than Wrath, and thats that…it still sounds like Ashes Of The Wake or even As The Palaces Burn…The Infection is way heavier and more bad ass than anything I have heard so far from all metal bands (thus this year is not over, so lets see who can top it)

as for this contest..I DELETED MY EMAIL FROM FERRET!!! fuck me man…can I just scan my bar code on the CD case and add my name and other shit and send it in? will that count too?

  • Brandon - April 22nd, 2009 at 6:26 am

No. If you got the CD in the mail, then you should scan the receipt that was in the packaging. Its a sheet of paper that says Merchnow on it.

  • Cale - April 22nd, 2009 at 7:38 am

infection owns wrath by a longshot!!

but i agree could ask for better solos but all-in-all a great album by chimaira \m/

  • You - April 22nd, 2009 at 7:47 am

Infection haters…gtfo. If you want the high, fast, and loud LOG, you can always go to their newest album. Lets face it, each album of theirs has generally been the same stereotype that is Lamb of God. Even though they are fucking amazing…lets not go bash chimaira because they like to switch it up a lil bit. Also…how can you deny the disappearing sun? that song blew my fucking mind and still does. Disclaimer: I am going to see Lamb of God this friday so don’t think I dislike wrath or any of their songs.

  • Redhaze - April 22nd, 2009 at 10:17 am

    @ Brett

the same thing all the time gets boring…..thats what LoG does…..not that I hate LoG but Sacrament and Wrath are just boring to me. Chimaira with The Infection took a different approach slowed shit down and made it brutally heavy and its fucking awesome and I can’t stop listening to it.

  • Joseph Long - April 22nd, 2009 at 10:45 am

why the fuck are people bringing Wrath into the situation here?

Wrath clearly shows that Lamb of God have sagged, althought it was better than Sacrament (BTW I do not hate Lamb of God – i indeed love them im just proving that Chimaira are better than them)
on Wrath an Sacrament, the vocals were fucked up or atleast not the good old form it used to be, the drums weren’t as good as they used to be and the guitars are just way to clear nowadays (I’m not criticizing Lamb of God at all, im just proving that Wrath DID NOT beat The Infection: AT ALL)

The Infection is a TRUE METAL ALBUM, demonstrating that Chimaira have clearly NOT sagged and have indeed improved musically, heavily and in every other way!
the guitars on this album are out of this world, with the new slower grooves, its fantastic – I am personally a fan of slower metal (groove metal) like Pantera – not that i hate fast songs, cos Chimaira have indeed made fast songs which are amazing too. the solos from Coming Alive, On Broken Glass, The Heart of it All, and ESPECIALLY TRY TO SURVIVE are absolutely soulfull and fun to listen to – just as Rob aimed to way back in TIOR days
the drum’s on The Infection are absolutely brilliant, Andols is improving every record (and ofcourse everyone else in the band)
the Vocals are the best part of Chimaira’s growth – low deep vocals fuckin awesome with still the old-school from their previous records

THE INFECTION = SLOW, HEAVY, BRUTAL RIFFS
    +
MORE VARIETY IN VOCALS EG. DEEP
    +
    AMAZING DRUMS

    WTF MORE DO YOU WANT!!!
The Infection certainly topped the rest of the albums for me (well, its def better than POOE, SELF-TITLED and RESURRECTION anyway)
and has certain DESTROYED AND DOMINATED WRATH!

Thank you Chimaira making the best music to have ever gifted human-kind, sincere regards thank you very much.

    Thank you good night,
    Joseph Long

  • cale - April 22nd, 2009 at 11:10 am

i couldnt agree more but i found lamb of gods albums really good from “New american Gospel” all up till “Ashes of the Wake”. After that it was crap though.

but i agree why are people bringing lamb of god into this ? this is about CHIMAIRA and THE INFECTION lol nothing else.

  • UNBELIEVABLE FORCE!!! - April 22nd, 2009 at 12:16 pm

THE INFECTION kicks ass man. Its very heavy and very catchy and is simply brilliant. Chimaira continues to impress me and now i need to get those other two songs “Convictions”and “Warpath” Congrats on an amazing album guys

  • Tad - April 22nd, 2009 at 12:17 pm

Re-Ordered my CD two weeks ago and the doshbags at the Record store told me it would be in today

  • Joel - April 22nd, 2009 at 12:27 pm

I would just like to say that I didn’t say one word about Lamb of God and I will listen to Chimaira over LOG anyday…… I also did not say that I did not like the album…. I love the CD….. Just because I say I would like to hear the fast tempo they are use to, doesn’t make me a hater…… just hoping maybe they take it into consideration on the next disc….. let’s please not give Lamb of God and props, especially not on a Chimaira website…..last I knew it wasn’t really a competition on who can have the best metal album….. just make your music, it is obvious there is a large crowd of people who like it fast and a large crowd of people that like it slow and sludgy…..Still a good fuckin CD to entertain you with!

  • Brett - April 22nd, 2009 at 2:13 pm

Less filler more music IMO. That said we live in a world where”boom boom pow” is number one on the charts so im not diluted about the infection being a good music release i just think its a drop off from resurrection. The comparison to LOG was due to the fact that its the other album i was excited about in recent months and it delivered the OMG this fucking owns factor.

  • You - April 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 pm

Fuck you Brett. That is all.

  • Greg - April 22nd, 2009 at 4:47 pm

id love to give you my receipt but here i sit with no fuckin tin set… its god damn wednesday and still.. nothing…. i live in canada and its not here… yet people in european countries have been getting theirs in the last couple days… god damnit i want that fuckin set so god damn bad…

  • scouinci - April 22nd, 2009 at 6:00 pm

yeah the infection is nowhere to be found in Canada :(

  • You - April 22nd, 2009 at 7:56 pm

It’s well worth the wait guys.

  • Brett - April 22nd, 2009 at 9:42 pm

    You Says:
    April 22nd, 2009 at 3:58 pm
Fuck you Brett. That is all.

haha go fall on a knife and bleed out getting a busy signal calling 911 you shitdick

  • ThatGuyOverThere - April 23rd, 2009 at 2:56 am

again I will repeat myself, even though no one will listen….

    THIS IS CHIMAIRA’S WEBSITE!

LoG should have NOTHING to do with this post or any post on this website…unless someone from the band logs on and says “Compare The Infection to Wrath” then go for it…this was about the contest…obviously Chimaira loves thier fans enough to give them…what 3 or 4 diff contests now (not including the ones before the release of the album)

when did LoG sit down and think of this kind of shit…obviously they only care about their money…and like Jim said on the Resurrection DVD, fuck all those other bands who care about numbes…its all about making good music, having fun with your close friends and supporting your bands, both local and nationlly.

so here ill say it nice and loud and clear

STOP TALKING ABOUT LAMB OF GOD ON A CHIMAIRA WEBSITE YOU ASSES!

  • cale - April 23rd, 2009 at 10:31 am

nicely said thatguyoverthere, totally agree with you

  • Brett - April 23rd, 2009 at 11:22 am

Lamb of god lamb of god lamb of god

Heaven forbid you like more than one band. And they’re both metal bands so who gives a fuck. All i wanna do now is talk about other bands.

    The wiggles!!!

  • chimairaST05 - April 23rd, 2009 at 1:10 pm

scouinci, what part of Canada do you live? I’m in Ontario, and got the cd, the deluxe edition, the day it came out, keep looking dude!

  • Beelzebub412 - April 23rd, 2009 at 2:04 pm

If they didn’t want comparisons they’d delete those posts.

Band to band comparison is how people choose who and what they like.

Infection>Wrath>Earthsblood. God Forbid tried WAAAAAY too hard. Sounds random, though I know its not, and its genius at times, its just unaccessible.

  • ThatGuyOverThere - April 23rd, 2009 at 3:22 pm

to “brett” I never said I dont like Lamb Of God…I said that people seem to get off topic at times.

this post was intended for random ass comments or questions people have about this new contest Chimaira is doing for us, not to debate on if Wrath is better than Infection or vise versa, you know….god forbid they should go out of thier way to give back to the fans who have given them so much support over the past ten years, again, i dont see LoG doing anything like that.

  • Brett - April 23rd, 2009 at 4:41 pm

    R.E.M.!!!

  • Greg - April 23rd, 2009 at 5:53 pm

fuck i want that set so bad… i wonder why its takin so long…

  • Alex - April 23rd, 2009 at 6:55 pm

ThatGuyOverThere, did you not notice that Lamb of God gave over 100 prizes away including 2 trips to Europe (my friend actually won one of them) when they released Wrath? I’d say they’ve given back to their fans.

  • ThatGuyOverThere - April 23rd, 2009 at 9:19 pm

Alex, did you know that Chimaira has been giving back to us since BEFORE they released The Infection, like the guy who won the contest during Christmas time, the people who got to hang out back stage at Music As A Weapon, the golden tickets, the $100 packaging deal on the album, this new Proof Of Purchase contest…LoG did this when they RELEASED Wrath, Chimaira’s album hasnt been out a week yet and they are still giving back to us…still dont see LoG doing that

think about what both bands are doing for thier fans before you try to prove me wrong asshole

  • Alex - April 23rd, 2009 at 9:37 pm

I never said Chimaira doesn’t or hasn’t given back to the fans. No drummer from any band I listen to has taken time out of their day while on tour to come over and give me a lesson, Andols did though. All I did was point out the fact that despite what you may think, LOG also has also done things for the fans, and has done so before and since Wrath. Ever heard of the Congregation?

  • Brett - April 23rd, 2009 at 10:58 pm

I dont give a fuck about what i get back as a fan except great albums and the opportunity to buy a ticket to a live show. Where does that leave california fans in 2009? Just seems to be poor planning although i understand disturbed just went through san jose before chimaira jumped on the road with them. I remember seeing chimaira at the pound in sf for their second release and the place was pretty packed, unless crowd has changed drastically its just silly no to come through california in some way.

  • Thien - April 24th, 2009 at 12:41 am

all i have is the sheet of paper i got with my Chimaira LE Fan Bundle pack. Doesn’t matter anyways, Everything included is awesome! i have the flag pinned up in my room. Its so big!

  • Joel - April 24th, 2009 at 3:50 am

Again…… I didn’t know it was a contest to see which band could give back to their fans the most…….You’re either going to go out and buy the Infection or you’re not…… and you’re either going to go out and buy Wrath or you’re not….. or you might just go buy both of them and shut the fuck up about who is better…. How can any band be better than any other band when they don’t even make the same music????? I could see if both these bands sat down and tried to specifically play a certain type of music….. then you can sit here and debate on it…… 2 different bands doing 2 different things…. no need to compare, just listen!

  • Joel - April 24th, 2009 at 3:53 am

and it sounds like ThatGuyOverThere needs to take his own advice at the bottom of his last statement………….. just sayin.

  • ThatGuyOverThere - April 24th, 2009 at 4:53 am

honestly guys…I agree with Joel…who cares if u buy just Wrath or infection, or both. there is no use arguing over the internet of which album is better.

but take my own advice? I dont think I will…I know my music, I know what the bands are doing for thier fans, if they are giving away free shit or just writing an album and picking up a pay check, so there is no need for me to take my own advice. I think this argument is pointless and a complete waste of everyones time.

  • Greg - April 24th, 2009 at 4:25 pm

well id love to scan ur guys my receipt…. but still no tin set… GOD DAMN POSTAGE!!!

  • Jeff - April 24th, 2009 at 7:36 pm

    Long Live Chimaira!!!

  • Matt - April 26th, 2009 at 9:52 am

Lovin the slow riffs. Chimaira once again has out done themselves. This album has been overdue, but this is the right time for the band to pull this off. It is very hard for a band to be successful with slow riffs and to still sound amazing, personally I think the vocals plays a good part with this album, good job Mark!! and to the rest of the band. Please come to Winnipeg MB

  • Jeff - April 26th, 2009 at 4:49 pm
