Mixing Has Begun

We are now in the mixing stage of the recording process!

For those of you unfamiliar with what that means, it’s when you take all of the things recorded and put it together and make it sound right. You are hearing the song how it should sound on the album for the first time, so obviously it’s exciting…unless the mix sucks.

Zeuss started earlier this week and sent us the first 2 songs he completed. We couldn’t be happier with our choice. This mix far from sucks. The low end on this record is gigantic! I highly suggest everyone goes out and buys subs so they can truly feel this record.

We really wanted to beef up our sound all around and it’s great to hear it all come together and sound how we visioned it back in June when we started writing.

Mr. Spicuzza is still working hard on the last couple songs while the rest of us are unwinding from the recording process. That doesn’t mean Chimaira is not on our minds. Since Monday we’ve been listening to all of the songs while trying to come up with the tracklisting for the album. We really want it to feel good from start to finish and it’s something that takes time. We listen to the songs in all sorts of different orders and see what feels best. We have the bookends (opening and closing track) all set, now we just need to put the rest of it together.

  • Derek - December 11th, 2008 at 4:10 pm

  • Kyle - December 11th, 2008 at 6:14 pm

Sounds awesome as always, man! I know from amateur experience how fucking grueling and tedious the mixing process can be, but it sounds like you’ve really got some good hands workin’ on your stuff. So, can’t wait to hear!! Here’s hoping the release gets pushed forward even closer :D

  • Defytion - December 11th, 2008 at 6:52 pm

  • cale - December 13th, 2008 at 8:16 am

yeah thats what im talkin bout !! release date should be closer, i agree with Jay, you guys should release like 1-2 songs to listen to till the whole cd comes out :) for like a free download or something. :)

  • Vincent - December 13th, 2008 at 7:30 pm

Having you say something about the low end sound makes me really excited. Impossibility and the self titled album sound good in a car with an upgraded audio system but not nearly as good as Resurrection sounds. The drums from Resurrection really come alive with subwoofers. Good luck with the mix.

  • Sef - December 14th, 2008 at 12:16 am

Can’t wait for the album. Ressurection was the shit. You’re the best metal out there right now. Set the standards fellas, no one can do it like yall.

  • Burning Altar - December 14th, 2008 at 7:06 am

    Can’t wait to buy it!
    Fucking hell!!!!
    Hail Chimaira!

  • Faulkner - December 14th, 2008 at 9:11 am

I already own subs and your previous album sounded excellent with them. Its funny letting people listen to music in your car when they’ve never really “heard” the entire album. Pretty neat. Anyways, 4:20 and 4:21 should be nice :) Can’t wait.

  • Zack - December 14th, 2008 at 11:59 am

    I’m soo stoked!, Can’t wait

  • Matt - December 14th, 2008 at 3:41 pm

hell yeah on the alpine gear!!!!! just got myself 2 sets of type r 6inch speakers and a fuck load of cable to go with the sub in my integra. theres an awesome bass swell on resurection bout 8-9 secs in which sounds awesome as does the rest of the album!!!! bring on no 5!!!!!

  • Bill - December 15th, 2008 at 4:25 pm

I love bass. It’s the best feeling while cruising around blasting Chimaira and having people look to see where the hell all the loudness and double bass is coming from. Bring the noise.

  • jared - December 16th, 2008 at 5:22 pm
