Chimaira

15 Apr 09

Balls

The Infection is coming out in less than a week and we find ourselves in a position that, in this day and age, is unique. With only six days until The Infection is released, our album has yet to leak on the internet. We would like to thank all of those who had their hands on the album that could have leaked our record but did not. The fact that this did not happen gives the album something that doesn’t exist for new releases these days: anticipation.

To our great fans, we want to ask for your help with reaching a goal.  With each subsequent Chimaira release after Pass Out Of Existence, we’ve been able to outsell the previous record’s first week sales. In an era of downloaded music and an overall diminished market for CD sales,  we want to ask our fans to help us continue the trend of higher first week sales by going out and picking up The Infection in its first week.

As a way to get all of you to stop foaming at the mouth in anticipation, we want to say an early “thank you” by streaming the entire record on our Myspace tomorrow. We hope that you will hear the new stuff, love it as much as we do, and be inspired to go out and pick it up in the first week and make a statement for heavy music.

Below are sales and chart positions for our previous albums. These are only sales in the USA. We don’t have access to worldwide first week sales, but that doesn’t mean you can’t help if you live outside of the USA.

Pass Out Of Existence – 4,217
The Impossibility Of Reason – 8,320 – #117
Chimaira – 13,938 – #74
Resurrection – 16,346 – #42

    We love you guys!

    You’re music is awesome!

  • -overlooked- - April 15th, 2009 at 2:32 pm

yeah! a big thank you for streaming… we (people in europe) have to wait until april 24th!! so that kinda sucks.. but anyway, by streaming it we can enjoy it as much as the people in the usa.

when are you planning to post new tour dates (europe) on your site??

  • Ian Arsenault - April 15th, 2009 at 3:17 pm

You guys are so cool, thank you for doing what you do!!! I’ll definitely be streaming it tomorrow and jamming it when I get my pre-order in the mail.

  • Butters - April 15th, 2009 at 3:17 pm

  • BWOMP - April 15th, 2009 at 3:25 pm

  • metal as fuck - April 15th, 2009 at 5:53 pm

FUCKING A this just made my fucking day

  • Kyle - April 15th, 2009 at 6:51 pm

That’s so great, guys. I’m so glad it hasn’t leaked. Shows the great loyalty and respect of those who could’ve done so. And for it, this CD definitely DOES have very much anticipation! And I’ve had my copy pre-ordered from the first day I was able to do so, so there’s my bit toward first day sales! :D As for the streaming tomorrow, that’s very awesome and generous of you, but I think I’m gonna try to force myself to hold off (if I can haha) and wait til I get my CD. Unless it’s past release date and I still haven’t gotten it in the mail, that is! Haha.

You guys are the absolute best though. Chimaira FTW!

  • Kyle - April 15th, 2009 at 8:20 pm

Also, how ironic that something that has been built around SPREADING VIRALLY has not leaked out one bit… Whoda thunk it? :P

  • No OnE - April 15th, 2009 at 9:43 pm

I’ve been watching closely for the leak for like a month and a half! I’ve honestly been amazed that it hasn’t leaked yet. I know the band Isis didn’t get so lucky with their new album, it leaked the same week that Mastodon put their album on myspace, and Isis’ record doesn’t even come out til May. Kind of a shitty deal for them. But at the same time, it’s an amazing record, and I’ve already preordered it and convinced a friend of mine to also preorder it.

On the other hand, CAN’T FUCKING WAIT FOR TOMORROW!! God dammit, I almost want to go to bed early. Gonna wake ‘n’ bake, eat some goddamn wheaties and turn up THE INFECTION!!

  • fucko - April 15th, 2009 at 10:11 pm

Guys thank you and jesus christ it hasnt leaked yet? thats fucking awesome just goes to show you how loyal your fans are. but obviously you guys already know how good of fans you got because you did the deluxe edition of this cd( even though i couldnt afford one) its fucking awesome you guys would do that especially in the world and time were in. But I’m going to hold out until i get the cd in my hands and i cant fucking wait god damn it. I’ve had the clips you gave us stuck in my head since you began putting them out and i showed my friends the clips i dont even know how many god damn times haha ive even showed one of my teachers. i know you guys have fans that are even bigger than me but congradulations with the success you’ve had and ill take a shot out of one of your shot glasses tonight for hopes this cd gives the metal world the god damn kick in the balls it needs. I have nothing but trust in you guys to continue what youve done cd after cd. I even have robs signature tatooed on my arm. So best of luck and i cant wait to watch you guys dominate the metal world like the 12 testicle bulldozer you guys are.

and whens sp lit gonna make it guys?

  • Brett - April 16th, 2009 at 2:02 am

i bought the deluxe fan edition within seconds(literally) of it being posted on ferret’s site, i am also going to buy one of the auto’s on newbury, so notch 2 on my belt, and i hope to god that this album presents you guys to the world on a level never-before-seen by you guys and may this be the album that tattoo’s you guys on the face of metal forever!!!!!! it’s time for those unfortunate motherfuckers who say “i’ve never heard of them” to say “oh yeah i’ve got that album, they are fucking brutal!!!”

  • Claus - April 16th, 2009 at 2:37 am

I would just like Chimaira know, that I will stick with the band until the very end.

I own every release and you guys definately get better with each new release!

Here’s hoping that 2009 will bring you guys the best of luck and success.

    Take care

    From Claus – South Africa

  • Geert - April 16th, 2009 at 2:56 am

I’ve just heard that whole streaming on your myspace.
    This stuff is seriously intense!

I felt that Resurrection was on of the most top-metal albums released. But this is insane…
My favorites sofar Venom Inside & Coming Alive…

Venom Inside is just insane with that tempo switch…

Can wait till my tinbox gets here!

  • Aussie - April 16th, 2009 at 4:33 am

Sorry to be a bringer of bad news but it just leaked an hour ago

  • rockchick88 - April 16th, 2009 at 4:47 am

    Hi

Just wondering, when will this be available in the UK? On amazon et al it says 27th April, on Nuclear Blast it says 24th April, anyone any idea?

    cheers

  • Joel - April 16th, 2009 at 7:52 am

Who really cares if it leaks now…. It comes out in a week, should be lucky it got that far without being leaked…. seriously I saw Lamb of God’s albumn on the net in like December and it didn’t come out till February….. sure it hurt their sales a little even though they did extremely well….. not to mention the whole album isn’t even up for streaming…. they didn’t put the last song on there called The Heart of It All, but pretty much the whole album! Sounds good guys!

  • russmansays - April 16th, 2009 at 7:53 am

I seriously doubt that you guys will have a problem beating the previous record sales. I consider it a privlege to hammer my ear drums with the music that is Chimaira. Ive been a fan from the beginning and I just would like to say thank you for defining what heavy metal really is. best of luck guys and im picking up my copy on the 21st, cant fucking wait

  • Malodorous - April 16th, 2009 at 8:13 am

Fuck yeah! I’m listening to it now! Shit man this is awesome! And it’s amazing that the album isn’t leaked yet, because other bands albums were leaked month or more before release, for example Lamb of God, Kreator.

  • Malodorous - April 16th, 2009 at 8:45 am

Oh sorry man, I didn’t notice that.:)

  • Rusken - April 16th, 2009 at 8:56 am

Holy shit! I got abit dissapointed when i first heard Secrets of the dead, but wow! This album is fucking awesome! CHIMAIRA IS GOD!!!!

  • -overlooked- - April 16th, 2009 at 9:35 am

this is brutal! yeah i can’t wait to hear some of these songs live:) the part in frozen in time from 1:40 to 2:43 is real awesome, the whole album has a new vibe ( BRUTAL) great!

  • [...] You can read more about it in a post on the band’s official website aptly named “Balls“. [...]

  • yAs - April 16th, 2009 at 10:58 am

this album is their best so far…in my opinion, ill go with \frozen in time\ for my favorite…whoever downloaded the album through torrentz or whatever(including my self,i couldnt wait anymore!)go and buy the cd when its out,the least thing for appreciation and respect…cause this record is fucking A man!

    cheers from hungary…I <3 CHIMAIRA!lol

i found this on youtube.. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=sApvApQiqQ0

i didnt know that chimaira made a drum n bass song:) hahaha

  • Bill - April 16th, 2009 at 11:43 am

Oh my fucking god is all I can say in response to what my ears just heard. Definitely the best album yet. I really didn’t want to listen to it until I got it in the mail, but I just had to. New favorite Chimaira song… Coming Alive. Definitely dig the opening of The Venom Inside. Couldn’t have picked a better track to open the album… EPIC! It gives me goosebumps and the song makes me want to smash someone’s face off a fucking wall. Love it! See you tomorrow at Penn State! Can’t wait to mosh to some new Chimaira!

  • fucko - April 16th, 2009 at 11:54 am

I broke i had to listen to it. Holy Shit … This has to be the cd that carves the name Chimaira in the god damn face of metal. I cant even pick a favorite yet. I already Learned The Venom Inside on guitar. I’m officially infected. I was scarred that the whole cd was going to be like secrets of the dead, how fucking stupid am I? I can’t wait to see you guys live and get in the god damn pit. All Hail Cleveland Beast

  • don't touch my spandex motherfucker - April 16th, 2009 at 12:05 pm

Well, definitely not their best effort in my opinion. I don’t mind it being slow, but it gets repetitive and boring pretty damn fast. Most of the songs aren’t memorable whatsoever, there are good riffs here and there, but that’s pretty much it. I must say that I like “The Venom Inside” and “On Broken Glass”, but “Impending Doom” licks balls, it’s the worst track on the album. I’ll give the record a few more spins, and hopefully it’ll grow on me.

Their best album in my opinion is their self-titled, and they haven’t been able to top that one. They probably need Kevin Talley for more death metal/grind input or they probably need to go through rough times again to make a better album.

I hope at least the DVD is funny like the Resurrection one.

  • drew - April 16th, 2009 at 1:30 pm

downloaded the leaked one, but ive already preordered, the day the preordering thing went up, so im good. i just wanted to hear it.

  • Jeff - April 16th, 2009 at 1:32 pm

Why does the “Nuclear Blast Int’l” album for The Infection cost $29.98 while the Ferret album of The Infection only cost $14.98?

Is there a deference in the album quality or just to see how many of us pay more. If there is a difference, I’m going to buy the “Nuclear Blast Int’l” just because it is coming out later and its still within the first sales week. And I’m going to buy The Infection (Limited Edition) of the album too!!!

Please!!! Someone tell us fans the difference!!!

  • Redhaze - April 16th, 2009 at 3:04 pm

lol spandex more hating on Chimaira I see

they don’t need Kevin Talley he is a fucking fuck up on stage at least Andols can play his shit live

    but w/e its you opinion

  • Rusken - April 16th, 2009 at 3:07 pm

Frozen in time, The dissapearing sun, On broken glass, Try to survive and Coming alive = fucking awesome songs!!! I’ll bet Heart of it all will be awesome as well.. :D

  • Beelzebub412 - April 16th, 2009 at 3:11 pm

The Nuclear Blast one costs more because its International. CD’s are pretty cheap in the states, so US bands cost a lot in other nations, primarily Europe.

CD quality never varies. It’s always at Redbook standard for consumer purposes. 44.1kHz and 16-bit. They are just charging more based on location and business.

Whoops, my engineering background is showing lol.

Buy the ferret version, see what your shipping charge totals to. It’ll probably be around $35, which I’m sure equates to what Nuclear Blast Int’l is going to charge overall.

Album sounds phenomenal guys. Unlike a few people, I felt the energy and groove right away. Killer feel behind this one, truly a unique monster of an album.

  • Ricky - April 16th, 2009 at 3:37 pm

Guys, first of all i want to say that i have never been like this for an album like this one,and thank you very much for letting us listening to it before release here in Europe, this is by far the best Chimaira album ever and one of metal’s best, too bad “heart of it all” isn’t there, i’m really looking forward to ear that track,my fav tracks are “The Disappearing Sun” and “Try To Survive” but all the tracks are awesome,i’m even more infected now that i was before…Great job guys, hope to see you soon in europe.Cheers

  • Ulrik(Norway) - April 16th, 2009 at 4:27 pm

I am sitting on http://www.cdon.com and ordering the album right now. The Cd/DVD version, so I’m pumped as fuck!

  • myPootz - April 16th, 2009 at 9:11 pm

I agree with spandex…self titled was their most solid release. I love impossibility too, but this one is BORING…not worth buying in my opinion. Kind of reminds me of ressurection and that one never grew on me…hope this one does…you want a solid metal album pick up LOG WRATH…that’s some solid shit!

  • Kyle - April 16th, 2009 at 9:47 pm

If you think Resurrection is boring and Lamb of God is not… Then I just dunno what to say.

  • Michael N - April 16th, 2009 at 10:16 pm

Yup it was definitely insane that it managed to stay under wraps for so long. Just yesterday did a leaked version appear on a file sharing site. I streamed the songs on Myspace and downloaded the full version at the same time so that I could listen to the Hear of it All. My Newbury signed CD/DVD is in the mail and should be here soon, I can’t wait to get my hands on the booklet and read the lyrics!

VERY good album you guys have here.

  • myPootz - April 16th, 2009 at 11:48 pm

no i do not believe log is boring at all coming from a musicians eyes. musically and lyrically I believe log get the job done better…that’s not to say chimaira can’t rock. they are an awesome band with a lot of talent but I don’t believe they really let it shine on this one.

  • Kyle - April 17th, 2009 at 12:04 am

Eh, to each his own of course, I just can’t see how one can praise a LOG album while calling an album like Resurrection boring. Course, it’s just my opinion that holds Resurrection in such a higher light, so w/e =P

  • brain - April 17th, 2009 at 12:50 am

you may want to check around.
if you do a torrent search online, there are results, and many sites show thousands of downloads.

    i hope it’s not a real copy.
i want to hear it when i tear it open and jam that fucker in my cd player!

    thanks for such amazing tunes.
no offense, but i hope it’s better than the last album.
it was good, but not great.
also, it’s bullshit you have no new york city date coming up.
    bullshit.

  • HeavyMetal - April 17th, 2009 at 4:09 am

The copy on the net is the real thing for those that were wondering! On to my opinion, which I know is not going to be received very well from anyone! But, I don’t give a FUCK! Resurrection is there best album, and still is. Not trying to hate. Nothing on the new album really sticks out. I was expecting pure epic ass kicking metal, but instead was disapointed! It is much slower when compared to previous releases. Secrets of the Dead and The Disappearing Sun are the best songs, but they cannot help this album! The Infection leaves a nasty taste in ones mouth and encourages me to listen to older Chimaira. Now go ahead and make your comments!

  • lolwut - April 17th, 2009 at 4:11 am

The Venom Inside is one of THE best songs I ever heard.

    <3 From South Africa

  • Suecof - April 17th, 2009 at 4:39 am

    Who the hell is Spicuzza?

  • the_infected - April 17th, 2009 at 6:01 am

too bad your albums aren’t being released here in the Philippines. Nonetheless, i’ll make sure i get a physical copy of The Infection by ordering it online, just as i did with all of your other albums.

I just heard the album online and i must say that you’ve exceeded my expectations once again. You guys trully are one of the few metal bands left that has originality. I hope you include Manila in one of your tours someday. More power!

  • Malodorous - April 17th, 2009 at 10:45 am

The album in my opinnion is fuckin’ epic. The Venom Inside, Frozen In Time, Coming Alive, The Disappearing Sun, Try To Survive, Destroy And Dominate, The Heart of It All, these songs are my favorite and they are awesome, can’t stop listening to them, it’s so brutal, it’s slow but the atmosphere is just insane. And I don’t even heard the three bonus tracks, I hope it will be awesome too. I think The Infection is even better than Resurrection. :)

  • Bloooor - April 17th, 2009 at 12:12 pm

    Fuck Steve 18!

  • deezy - April 17th, 2009 at 1:10 pm

definitely getting the album on Tuesday…as soon as my broke ass self gets paid!

  • Claus - April 17th, 2009 at 2:44 pm

Fuckin’ A this new album kicks ass!

lol.Lucky I bought my Logitech X-530’s just in time. The bass makes the whole table rumble.Good times.

The new music is a big step up from Resurrection.

Well done guys on making another brilliant addition to your collection.

  • Rusken - April 17th, 2009 at 5:22 pm

Impending doom is a fucking killer song! But i don’t like the part from 01:55 – 02:23. Secrets of the dead is ok, but kinda boring. I feel the same about D&D, Kinda boring. But I love the intro on The venom inside, but the rest of the song is alright…

The other songs are so fucking awesome!!! I just can’t stop listening to’em :D ARGGHH!!! I feel like beating the shit out of someone!!!!

  • Redhaze - April 17th, 2009 at 10:26 pm

    fucking brutal album!

I can’t get enough of Chimaira!

  • Jeff - April 18th, 2009 at 3:20 am

Thank you Beelzebub412 for helping me!!!!!

I honestly think that the album sound “angry” and wants to “pulverize” something when the heaviness kicks in. For example, Impending Doom sound amazing!!! The song sticks in my head. Very emotional song when i hear it. (Play the song while reading this – you’ll get the picture)

0:00 – 0:35 Reminds me of the movie Terminator (the first one)

0:36 – 1:04 Gives me the creepiness of the song

1:05 – 1:38 Makes me want to scream the chorus with Chris and Mark

    1:39 – 1:55 Rest – because I’m tired (need to rest)(the pits are huge)

1:55 – 2:23 Gives me the creepiness of the song
(like choking someone and whispering to them the final words they will ever hear)
    (Good future song)

    2:24 – 2:59 ARGGHH!!! Chorus!!!!

3:00 – 3:30 PITS!!! Love what he says!!!

    3:31 – 4:35 nice riffs!!!

4:36 – 5:05 know you are choking the person you hate!!!!!!

    5:06 – 5:36 Sing it with me!!!!!!!

    These motives don’t have solutions!!!
    We’re lighting inside this cell!!!
Our bodies are life long prisons!!!
Only Death will save us from this hell!!!

5:37 – 6:05 Love the solo (simple yet hard)

This is my favorite song!!!!Been playing it in myspace for a long time now. Chimaira, well done!!! its 12:18 am in California. I’ll write the rest of the song tomorrow – I’m tired.

I think Ressurection was much better..but we will see later

  • -overlooked- - April 18th, 2009 at 2:45 pm

i totally agree with jeff, impending doom sounds fucking epic man!… the solo at the very end of the song is really nice i wish it would have been a little longer

this album is better then ressurection, it’s more “grown up”. i really like it!

  • PBatemanJr - April 18th, 2009 at 6:21 pm

GOD DAMN YOU! Impending Doom made me cry!!! It’s your ultimate song!!!
    Great Album!!!

  • Jeff - April 19th, 2009 at 12:30 am

  • Beelzebub412 - April 19th, 2009 at 1:45 am

DUDE this is gay. My Syringe USB doesn’t fucking work.

I hope a member of the band reads this, but it seriously doesn’t work at all. This is gay… I’m going to hope for a response of some sort…

  • Malodorous - April 19th, 2009 at 5:08 am

Maybe your computer don’t recognise it?

  • Beelzebub412 - April 19th, 2009 at 6:40 pm

No its like busted, the USB insert pushes back into the syringe when I try to plug it in, so you can’t connect it.

  • that smart dumbass - April 19th, 2009 at 7:52 pm

    that fucking sucks!!!!

  • Fuzzinater - April 19th, 2009 at 9:31 pm

I haven’t gotten mine yet, but if I were you then I would see what I could do about getting that thing apart to somehow fix it. Because man that sucks! Well good luck with it anyway.

  • Rusken - April 20th, 2009 at 2:09 am

Man, that sucks balls! I hope not all of the syringe usb’s dosent work. Maybe I’ll get mine today…

It sucka but shit happens. When your only making a handful, it increases your risk of tech problems, I’m not concerned at all. It’ll get sorted one way or another, Plus I’ve got the bitchin flag (FUCKING ENORMOUS!!!) hanging behind my drummers kit in our practice space. That thing alone made the tin worth it. This really was an awesome package to offer, and though I’ve been a friend since the release DATE of Pass Out, I’ve never felt like a bigger supporter than with the fan edition.

The record: Absolutely stellar. The hooks are abundant, the twists are clever and cohesive, the vibe is… dare I say… infectious, and the instrumentation is superb. Andols performs a clinic on this record beginning to end, and The Disappearing Sun is precise enough on the kick to make Thomas Haake weep. I buy albums with all of my free money, and the infection is hands down the best record I’ve played in months. From an engineering, songwriting, conceptual, and execution standpoint: The Infection is the most bold and driven release the band has ever constructed. Nay-sayers, give it time. Let the groove take over your ears.

ALBUM OF THE YEAR. Crack the Skye, second.

whats the point to preordering when you pay more and you don’t get it in the mail till after the release date?????????

If I wouldn’t have preordered, I could have purchased it at midnight and would have paid less for it too. Now I have to wait for it to arrive…..

  • Tyler Durden - April 20th, 2009 at 10:55 pm

…But worth the wait. Disappearing Sun my favorite first time around. Its gonna be hard to top resurrection… we’ll see.. or he’ll stab you in the fucking back

    Hmmm getting worried here…
Apparently MerchNow is supposed to have send out the special fan packages.
I’ve pre-ordered mine on the 5th of March.

Now when I do an order status check, it still says proccessing. I’ve immediatelly payed through PayPal. I think I’ve ordered quick enough to be with the first 100.
I’ll be pissed if they even have completelly overlooked my order.

It should’ve been shipped on the 16th…

I’ve been a fan of you guys since I seen you perform on Farmclub which resulted in you being signed, I still have the vhs tape, I’ve loved your band since then, I had impossibility of reason burned so I could wait for it to come out, it had the whole “chimaira in stores” voice over on it. I own all your albums and your dvds, I even paid 65 dollars for your “The Dehumanizing Process” dvd.

Your probably asking yourselves why I’m telling you this, well to be honest I’m pissed off. I’ve been hearing about your new album since you cancelled a tour to lay down new stuff. The new album finally gets a name and a track list, and a released date and all I can manage to get is an mp3 version and you know why?

YOUR ALBUM IS DELAYED IN CANADA TIL THE 28TH OF APRIL IF NOT LATER! Futureshop, HMV,CDPLUS, not one record store has it, not only that, HMV has a release date of the 17th of April.

Neither member of the band will probably even see this so I don’t know why I’m saying any of this, but I figured from seeing you on farmclub to your last making of dvd you all seem down to earth so maybe this might make a difference. Since you’d like to top all your other first week sales, kind of makes it impossible to do if the album isn’t out in canada.

    One of your fans :)

    Hey guys,

you are awsome indeed. I was a bit sceptical about the first song you posted weeks back, but hearing the entire album, I just HAVE to buy it!

That said, it IS sad that these days with downloadable content, you have to worry about your sells. I suffer myself from piracy, but am a frequent leecher since I BUY stuff when I like it. And I will buy your album BECAUSE you put it up on myspace, not “even though”. Just as I bought the impossibility of reason *because I was able to hear the quality of the products leaving your sick creative minds before via download!

All the best and please come to UK, Yorkshire soon!
    Cheers muchly,
    Gunnar
