I wanted take a moment away from the road and personally reach out to
each and every one of you to reflect on my recent decision to leave
Chimaira. I’ve been with Chimaira for over 10 years now, and in that period of time, I’ve had the chance to achieve a number of goals I set for myself early in life – establishing myself as a musician, finding my own style and developing it within a band, touring every corner of the world, and connecting with people from all walks of life. I’m fortunate that my skills as a guitar player and musician have afforded me the opportunities to reach those goals.
Over the past year, I looked closely at what drove me, and asked myself where I wante to go – as both an artist and as a person. What motivated me as a kid from Cleveland wasn’t necessarily the same thing that now drives me today as a man with a family. I realized that as much as Chimaira had defined my past decade and made me who I am
today, it was time to explore my next decade of music, and grow into the person I need to be. For that reason, I have decided to leave Chimaira.
It goes without saying that Chimaira has some of the best fans in the world, and I’d like to thank each and every one of you out there who has ever supported us. Every show, every photograph, every backstage meet-and-greet, every truck stop, every scorching hot day on a summer festival, and every cold night out by the bus – I will never forget you. You have inspired me, driven me, and taught me humility through your own personal experiences and words in ways I never thought possible. I am forever in debt to you. Thank you.
To my brothers in Chimaira – both past and present, both band and road crew – thank you for your support, your desire to go for it in the face of adversity, and most of all, your passion to pursue a dream together.
Music’s in my blood, it’s who I am, and it’s my life. You might wonder if my departure from Chimaira will change that, and my answer is simple – no way. Planning for 2012 is already underway!

We’ll miss you Matt – same goes for Rob. I will however say that I am beyond excited for the future. Sean, Austin and Emil are three of the best musicians I’ve seen in this group and I eagerly await to see what’s in store. MARK – YOU READY FOR THE FUTURE!?!

When I first came across Chimaira years ago I realized that this band was gonna go places. I remember the day I bought Pass out of Exst. and from there on it was just sheer brutalness and a bunch of musicians having fun doing what they love. All in all situations change and life comes to play but the music will always be there forever imprinted in the past as well as the future on Disc. I wish you nothing but the best Matt and to Rob as well you guys were such an inspiration to me as a guitar player and composer !…carry on guys ! ,,,and Chimaira was always DELIVER !….:0)

Rob arnold is single handedly the biggest douchebag i have ever met at any concert. I was so excited to meet the dude and he just acted like an arrogant anal pube. just look at the name of his side project…can you say pretentious??. Rob Arnold is the most UN metal dude in the world. Good luck Matt

Dudes, seriously stop being so negative. If you are on this website and reading matts post, then obviously you are a fan, so stop knocking the band.
To Chimaira, guys,,, it kills me to see this happening. Unfortunately, I discovered Chimaira a little later than I wish I would have. I didnt start listening to Chimaira until the Self Titled Album, and ever since then, their music has been with me. Chimaira, you guys are truly one of the very few bands that deliver raw true and brutal metal when I need it, and can at the same time, deliver such beautiful and talented sounds that seriously gives me chills. Not trying to sound gay or anything, but some of the riffs and solos that Matt and Rob have delivered over the years honestly gives me chills, and I can feel my heart crying out from all my past experiences in life… I honestly feel that my soul can relate to the music that chimaira has created. I feel it every time I listen to the music. I dont know if I want to smash something, or just sit back and relate the feel of the music and lyrics to my life. Thank you Chimaira for delivering, and best wishes to Mark for making the effort and giving it a go without the original members.

Chimaira will be just fine if not even better than before. Mark is a beast with a vision and is finally strapped with an arsenal of musicians to be reckoned with. I’ve met them all a few times as I’m tight knit with another familiar band they’ve toured with. Mark, Matt and the original drummer Andols? were super cool on the money brothers. Rob almost got knocked the fuck out DMS style. You’d think the guy played like Dime the way he smugged at people. Point was, Chimaira I believe, is about to open up a can of XXXL whoop ass. Don’t be suprised!
